MAT KINGS SIGN SCHOPP
(SEPTEMBER 28, 2025)

     The Mat Kings have signed A.J. Schopp to the roster to replace Zach Donathan at 145 pounds. Schopp is the head assistant coach at Edinboro University where he previously wrestled in college. At Edinboro, Schopp was a 3x All-American. In 2015, he finished 3rd at the NCAA tournament and won the Gorriaron Award for the most falls in the least amount of time. He also finished in 4th place twice at the NCAA tournament. Prior to joining the Edinboro coaching staff, he coached at Purdue and South Dakota State.

Earlier in the week, the Mat Kings placed Marcus Coleman on Injured Reserve and signed free agent Christian Knop. Knop currently wrestles for the Wolfpack RTC after completing his collegiate career at NC State. He recently placed 4th in the 2025 CLAW U.S. Open. Knop will compete at 199 pounds.
